Maxie’s first-second grade class studied A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Here is her recipe for love nectar, if you can’t find any magical flowers where you are.

But don’t blame her if things go awry.

Lots of madness may ensue.
Anyway, the kids studied the play, adapted it, and performed it (along with other plays they’d written or adapted from children’s books) at an assembly. And to this day, when my kids want to insult each other, they scream, “You canker-blossom!”

This was amazing and so creative! My sister and I used to watch the 1930s version of the movie (I think with Mickey Rooney as Puck and James Cagney as Bottom) when we were around Max and Josie’s ages. Shakespeare certainly is great for creative sisterly insults!
