September is Roald Dahl month. (His birthday was September 13, 1916.) According to the publishing blog Galleycat, there’s a new book, The Missing Golden Ticket and Other Splendiferous Secrets, which contains a secret ending to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a fudge recipe, and excerpts from Dahl’s many horrid report cards. How horrid? In 1931, his teacher wrote, “Vocabulary negligible, sentences malconstructed. He reminds me of a camel.”
A camel who couldn’t construct proper sentences, unlike all the other camels out there who can?
Wow – hilarious!
