B&HDairyI got super-excited about the return of B&H Dairy, the last kosher dairy restaurant on lower Second Avenue. (I am kinda obsessed.)

I demanded that Lore Segal’s classic children’s book Tell Me A Mitzi be returned from out-of-print Siberia.

I recommended a friend’s funny and erudite book of Shakespeare-inspired cocktails and snackage. (I have quoted her amusing Everyday Shakespeare blog here before.)

And I suggested ways to observe Labor Day — books, movies, activism — with your kids, whatever their ages.

Over at SorryWatch, I discussed the Napa Wine Train racist debacle and subsequent groveling, and rolled my eyes at Tila Tequila’s apology for past Hitler lovin’. (Plus Bic Pens in South Africa social-media’d stupidly, a Spanish reggae festival blamed the pernicious pressure of BDS for its own anti-Semitic actions, and Duggars were horrible.)

Also: I did my first podcastUnorthodox, over at Tablet. I was wearing my SorryWatch hat, explaining to host Mark Oppenheimer how to apologize in advance of the High Holidays. I was very nervous–I’d never been in an actual recording studio, with the baffled soundproofing and big headsets and gigundo microphones.

Also, went to RI and hung out with mom and kids while husband was at Burning Man.

I was reading your Labor Day column in Tablet Magazine today and it made me think of a great shidduch. I think your daughter (and your family) would be a great match for the summer camp and youth group my kids belong to. Hashomer Hatzair and it’s summer camp, Camp Shomria, is a progressive, socialist, Zionist movement started in Eastern Europe in the early 1900’s. We are very inclusive. Our fall camping weekend is Oct 2-4. There is transportation from Manhattan. We have monthly youth group meetings. I would be happy to discuss this more. I would have emailed you privately, but could not find any address.

    Dear Ms. Ingall,
Re your latest column in Tablet,”A house divided”,I must comment on your attitude toward Hillary Clinton.Full disclosure,I am a Republican,an AIPAC member, and an NRA life member so I am sure you will view me as “The other”.
That aside,I only wish to point out the anomaly of a “Liberal,or Progressive” supporting Ms. Clinton. And I write this while precluding her politics, which I abhor ,but including her severe shortcomings in her her character issues.I do not for a moment doubt you are aware of her long history of disingenuous,no dishonesty is more correct, behaviour and actions.
It seems to me that you,and those on the left seem guided by one principle, and that is that a woman’s time to be president has arrived.Hillary Clinton it seems to me is a choice that relegates that desire to nothing more than affirmative action, and that is the perhaps worse reason of all.
I’m sure you can do better.
