In Tablet magazine this week: An excellent, autobiographical young adult novel — published under a pseudonym — about sexual abuse in the ultra-Orthodox world. Upsetting. But also very funny and with SUCH a strong voice. Written with so much affection for the closed community the author herself obviously came from, as well as horror at the way this community has failed to protect its most vulnerable members. Brava, brava, brava.

What a graceful review of a difficult and powerful book. You did a great job of conveying the humor as well as the horrors in a book that covers some very dark territory indeed. I would not normally seek this type of story out but your review made it very compelling and I look forward to reading it.
I wouldn’t have heard about this otherwise, so thanks for reviewing it! I definitely plan to find a copy… in fact, i just requested it for purchase by my local library system.
