While Jonathan was at Burning Man I watched Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist on the TiVo. What an adorable movie. I’m sorry Michael Cera has suddenly become passe and hateable to the hiperati because he’s great in it. But Kat Dennings is the big revelation here — she has these drawling, offbeat line readings that are super-compelling and funny and odd without being annoying, and there’s something a little withholding about her. I was just smitten and wanted MORE MORE MORE Kat Dennings. (Also: the movie is so Jewy! Perfect portrayal of the irksome post-Hebrew-Hammer Jews-are-the-new-Blacks entitled hipster boy phenomenon, plus a reference to tikkun olam! I really have to read the book — it’s around here somewhere, as well as another book by the same team, David Levithan and Rachel Cohn, Naomi & Ely’s No Kiss List, even though it bothers me that there is no hyphen in No Kiss, but I’m both rambling AND digressing again, aren’t I?) So anyway, Kat Dennings’s lipstick in this movie is spectacular. I needed it. If I had it for the Hungry book party the book would become a bestseller. This lipstick was just that impressive — a supremely matte brick-y pinky business that could certainly change a person’s life. I wound up googling (aka procrastinating) and imdb said it was Laura Mercier’s Lip Stain in Mulberry so I went and bought it.

Here it is on Kat Dennings in the movie:

I wore it to the book party. Unaccountably it did not make me look like Kat Dennings. I must have used the wrong lip brush.
